Why bar ends?
Barends offer the rider additional hand positions. Bar ends also allow greater leverage when pulling on the handlebars. Ergon offers its bar ends in various length to suit the demands of all riders.
These grips spread the load nicely across your hands, reducing fatigue. My primary purpose for getting them was to provide protection for my pinky fingers when clipping trees while mountain biking. My pinky knuckles are very happy with the addition.
My only surprise was how much these grips narrow the bars. The protrusion starts 25mm inside the end of the bar, thus essentially reducing the width of the bars by 50mm. Wish I had wider bars to compensate.
This grip was recommended by a riding buddy to help with numbness I was experiencing. I'm in my 50s and have ridden MTBs since the early 90s. This product really helped the situation.
If not for these handgrips I would have had to stop riding bikes
Used the online tool to pick these grips. They are comfortable but would have liked the grips with alternative hands holds. Just had carpal tunnel surgery so other grip positions would have been better. Will try other ergon grips with my new bike.
